We now have access to vLex Global, an online legal research service based in Barcelona, Spain. vLex offers case law, legislation, and other legal materials for nearly 98 countries, with a particular focus on jurisdictions in Latin America and Europe.
The contents of vLex can be searched by keyword, or browsed by country. Information is presented in its original language (13 languages are represented), although translations are available for many documents and may be requested for others. Where available, translations are presented side-by-side with the original language of the document.
Content (there are more than 22,000,000 documents to date) comes from 84 publishers, including commercial publishers, governments, international organizations such as the IMF and World Bank, and universities. Canadian, UK, and US sources are better accessed with other products, but VLex offers access to the national laws of South America, Central America, Mexico, and with a special strength in Spanish law. Reflecting vLex's international content, the search interface is available in your choice of 13 languages, but defaults to English at our location. The interface can be switeched to another language by using the the drop-down menu on the homepage.
This database was purchased by the Law Library with a license that permits access for all of York University.
